The New York Knicks are just one win away from clinching the NBA title, a feat they haven't achieved since 1973. The New York squad staged a spectacular comeback in Game 4 of the Finals, defeating the San Antonio Spurs 107-106 after trailing by as many as 29 points.
With this home triumph, the Knicks now lead the series 3-1 and could be crowned champions as early as next Saturday in Game 5, which will be played at the Frost Bank Center in Texas.
The game at Madison Square Garden initially seemed destined for a comfortable Spurs victory. Similar to Game 3, the visiting team started strong, capitalizing on the Knicks' defensive lapses to end the first quarter with a 19-point lead (41-22). In the second quarter, the deficit ballooned to 29 points, setting a new record for the largest lead in an NBA Finals game, surpassing the 24-point margin from the Celtics-Lakers game in 2008.
Just when a tied series seemed the most likely outcome, the Knicks began a remarkable resurgence. Fueled by the home crowd, they went on a 13-0 run, and despite still trailing by 18 points at the end of the third quarter (83-65), hope was rekindled.
The final quarter proved decisive. Led by Jalen Brunson, who was the game's top scorer with 36 points, the Knicks outscored the Spurs 32-16, sealing a memorable turnaround and securing the victory by the narrowest of margins.
As is customary at New York games, several celebrities were in attendance at Madison Square Garden to support the home team. Among those present were figures like Spike Lee, Jerry Seinfeld, Adam Sandler, Taylor Swift, Mariska Hargitay, Ben Stiller, Timothée Chalamet, and Kylie Jenner.
Even the national soccer team, already in training camp for the 2026 World Cup, was seen cheering on the game:
