7 things we learnt from Kiss Daniel’s interview with Factory78

1.The singer was very fond of his late father. When asked about his father, and how influential his dad was to his music. Daniel said his dad was actually a great man, he was an artist, a painter, and also a lecturer…he was this man that always wants to support you, adding that his father back then gave him a N100, 000 to go record his first song even when it was not certain whether the record would be commercially successful. Kiss also said his dad believes you should be educated and self-employed.

2.The artiste said he is personally tired of performing ‘Woju’ for the fans, but the fans can’t get enough of it still. ‘Laye’ on the other hand happens to be one of his favourite tunes.

3.As a songwriter, which he says he is, when asked if he writes songs for other artistes as it was obtainable in the developed countries like the U.S.A, the ‘Good time’ singer said his label G-Worldwide Entertainment doesn’t permit him to write songs for any artist other than himself according to the label’s rules and policy.

4. On whether he has industry buddies he rolls with, the pop singer said he doesn’t exactly have buddies in the industry as such, but rather colleagues. He sees himself as an introvert and his friends back in school always complained about him not being so outgoing. However, he said he is hanging out more with friends now, because you need people and friends to get ahead as an artist in the music industry.

5.On his smash hit single ‘Good time’ and what the process of making the song was like, the ‘Woju’ singer said “DJ Coublon is a genius, he’s a really good producer, Working with Coublon made me realize that you can actually do more with yourself, don’t ever limit yourself because God has already placed that eternal talent in you, talent that has no bound”. Daniel said, giving reference to the parable of the talents in the bible. The singer said he loves to experiment with sound, which brought his sound in the jam ‘Raba’ and ‘Good time’. The song ‘Good time’ gave him more international recognition than ‘Woju’ according to Daniel, and he didn’t even write the song, it was just inspired by the beat Coublon was making in the studio, and a video for the song is in the works.

6.About the new album “New era” soon to drop, Kiss said it comprises 20 tracks, 17 new tracks with three bonus tracks and Sugar Boi being the only featured artist on the album, gracing three tracks. The album will drop on his birthday, May 1, 2016, and will follow an album release concert to feature top artistes in the industry like Iyanya, Banky W, Olamide, Wizkid, Davido and Patoranking.

7.Kiss Daniel said he looks up to Wizkid as a mentor and gave him a shout for the great cover he did on the song ‘Good time’.
