Paris Saint-Germain forward Khvicha Kvaratskhelia has undergone successful surgery to repair a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in his right knee. The French club officially confirmed that the procedure took place at the Aspetar hospital in Doha, Qatar.
The Georgian international is now set to begin his rehabilitation as he focuses on the next phase of his recovery. PSG have not yet provided a specific timeline for his return to action.
The 25-year-old sustained the severe injury during Paris Saint-Germain's 4-2 Champions League victory over Barcelona on October 20. Kvaratskhelia went down in the second half following a challenge with young Barca defender Xavi Espart and was forced off in the 59th minute, assisted by the medical staff.
Initial fears of serious knee damage were subsequently confirmed by medical tests, after which PSG announced that surgery was required.
An ACL tear is among the most severe injuries in football and typically demands an extended recovery period, with lay-offs often lasting at least six months depending on the player's progress. Given the severity of the issue, there is a strong chance the Georgian will miss the remainder of the 2026/27 season, although the club has yet to issue an official recovery timetable.
