Father of Fly Eagles star Kelechi Iheanacho has brushed off reports that his son will not playing a the upcoming U-20 World Cup in New Zealand.
A recurring ankle injury has cast doubts over the availability of the Manchester City forward for the World Cup, but his dad, James Iheanacho has assured that his son is ready and looking forward to representing Nigeria in New Zealand.
J“I spoke to him and he told me he is fit now,” James said in an interview with sl10.ng.
“He has been suffering from that injury (ankle) and it comes and goes.
“But I know he will be fit enough to go to the World Cup and he has told me so. The World Cup is a big tournament that my son will like to play in, so he’ll be there,” he added.
Ineanacho was impressive as Manchester city lost the Youth FA Cup final to Chelsea.
