Kanu responds to 'fake news' about his presence at Tinubu's novelty match
Super Eagles of Nigeria great Nwankwo Kanu has explained his presence at the novelty game to honor former Lagos State Governor Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.
Kanu was joined by over 15 former Super Eagles players to celebrate the 70th birthday of the All Progressive Congress (APC) National Leader.
Recall there were criticisms leveled against Kanu and the other former Super Eagles stars who attended the occasion - some of the critics alleged that the football legends compromised moral standing by associating with Tinubu.
Kanu has now denied the allegations as fake news while urging Nigerians to get their Permanent Voters Card (PVC).
Kanu took to his official Instagram account to give his thoughts on the situation.
He said, "My country people. Yea you know what it is. I’ve been hearing some fake news going around. If you know me well enough to know my heart beats for Nigeria 🇳🇬
"Ex-gov of Lagos is turning 70 and we were invited for a birthday celebration & novelty football match.
"Be kind enough to stop spreading alternative news and let’s stick with the facts.
"Also get your PVC ready to vote 2023. One love #nigeria."
