The 42-year-old who played for Arsenal, Portsmouth and West Bromwich has encouraged Premier League sides to come for their pre-season tour in Nigeria.
The retired professional stated that football is developing in Nigeria and Premier League stands to benefit a lot by coming for their pre-season tour.
Kanu who is regarded among the finest exports to the Premier League from Africa talked about the possibility of more Premier League team going on tour to Nigeria.
He stated in a report by Times that Nigerians are passionate about Football and will be interested in seeing their favourite Premier League teams live at the Stadiums.
He said, “I’ve been one of the people trying to bring them there.
“A lot of Nigerians love football. When I played for Arsenal it opened the doors for many fans to really love the Premier League and they did. They would love to see the clubs come to them.
“They don’t and they have to. Maybe they are scared, they think about malaria or whether the preparation will be good. They think in terms of security.”
Kanu also talked about the Super Eagles at the which they crashed out from the group stage, as he declared that the team is young and will improve as there were no administration issues.
He said, “Nigeria had the youngest team out in Russia, which means they can improve. It was the first time we have gone without issues in the camp about money or travel, everything was OK.
“A lot of our players are playing in Europe, maybe not at the biggest clubs. Take Nigeria against Argentina at the World Cup. That was the game we were supposed to lose but with four minutes to go, it was 1-1. There is an improvement. I can see it.”
