Borussia Dortmund has confirmed that their manager Jurgen Klopp will be leaving the club at the end of the season after seven successful years.
undefined that the German manager has told the Borussia Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke of his intentions to quit at the end of the current season.
The club called a press conference today where the CEO addressed newsmen alongside an emotional Jurgen Kloop.
"As a person, I would have liked to see that something so beautiful does not have to come to an end."
Since the reports of him leaving Borussia Dortmond surfaced, speculations have emerged that he is about to embark on a year-long sabbatical because of exhaustion following a difficult season with Dortmund.
Kloop however dispelled the speculation saying: "I don't think of it as a load off my shoulders. I'm not tired, even though I look like this.
"I have had no contact with another club, but I am not planning a sabbatical."
Klopp who has been immediately linked with Manchester City as pressure on Manuel Pellegrini mounts said he believe the time was right for him to leave Borussia Dortmund after his trophy laden seven years at the club.
"'I am sure that the decision is absolutely right. This team deserves to have the absolutely one hundred per cent right coach.
"I believe that Borussia Dortmund actually needs a change. A major problem certainly is - as long as I'm here, we are always considering the successes of the past."
Club CEO Watzke had nothing but sweet words for the departing manager.
"We had talks with Jurgen in the last days and came to the mutual decision that the way will end at the end of the season," Watzke said.
"It has been difficult for us because we have a very special relationship with each other. You can be certain that all the Borussen will forever be thankful to you."
Klopop won two Bundesliga titles and the German Cup and guided the team to final of the UEFA Champions League which they lost to Bayern Munich.
Thomas Tuchel who replaced Klopp at Mainz has been linked to do the same again at Dortmund.
