Jorge Martin is confident that Aprilia "will do everything to allow me to win" the MotoGP title in 2026, despite his impending departure from the brand at the end of the year.
The 2024 World Champion leads the standings midway through the current season, having secured Aprilia's first-ever Grand Prix victory in France. However, for the second time in his career, Jorge Martin faces a title fight representing a manufacturer after already committing to a rival for the following season.
This scenario unfolded in 2024 when he clinched the title for Ducati with the Pramac team, having already signed with Aprilia that summer. This time, he will leave Aprilia for Yamaha, but is currently embroiled in a title battle that includes his teammate Marco Bezzecchi and Trackhouse's Ai Ogura.
With Bezzecchi set to remain with the team through 2027, questions have arisen regarding how Aprilia will manage the intense title fight between its two factory riders. Speaking to Motosprint, however, Martin expressed confidence in the support he is receiving from Aprilia.
"If I can fight for the title until the end, that will be an advantage, but I need to get there, and for that, I need consistency," Martin stated. "Every rival is different, and Marco is proving to be at a very high level, and then there's [Marc] Marquez. I think [Aprilia CEO Massimo] Rivola's goal is to put me in a position to win.""Ultimately, I think about myself, and I believe he will do everything possible to allow me to win, so I am calm about that."
During Martin's championship year, Ducati ultimately ensured a level playing field between him and Pecco Bagnaia throughout the season. This included continued access to all Ducati riders' data, as well as the decision not to introduce a new chassis, as there weren't enough units to distribute between the two title contenders.
Ultimately, Martin won the championship that year by just 10 points over Bagnaia, despite having only three Sunday race victories compared to his rival's 11. Ahead of the British Grand Prix, the Aprilia trio of Martin, Ogura, and Bezzecchi are separated by only 22 points, with World Champion Marc Marquez also in the mix.
