Super Eagles star praises NFF boss, Pinnick for getting Nigerian-born talents in Europe
For the Super Eagles camp which closed on Monday, March 27, two European-born players, Noah Joel Bazee (German-born) and Tyronne Ebuehi (Dutch-born) were both named in the squad for the first time.
On the last day of camping on Monday England-based stars, Chuba Akpom, Ola Aina, Ebere Eze and Josh Maja all joined the Super Eagles in training at the Hive (home of Barnet FC) in London.
With the youngsters training with the Super Eagles, it is now expected that the players will commit their international futures to Nigeria.
Ogu who played in Nigeria’s 1-1 friendly with Senegal on Thursday, March 23 is happy that these players are committing to Nigeria.
The midfielder took to his Twitter to express his excitement at the number of talents now available to the Super Eagles.
“I had a great time in the super Eagles camp in London, to be honest .10 days out with the coaching crew and staffs was a great experience,” the Hapoel Be'er Sheva wrote on Twitter.
He went on to shower praises on Pinnick for his effort in making sure these players commit to Nigeria.
Since becoming president of the NFF in 2014, one of Pinnick’s visions has been to assemble the most talented Nigerian footballers around the world for the national team.
With success stories like Alex Iwobi, William Troost-Ekong and Leon Balogun so far, Pinnick is keen to make sure that the Super Eagles do not miss out on top Nigerian-born talents to any country.
“We have the talents now, we have a president who has big plans for our football, we, the coaches who care about our local league as well,” Ogu continued.
“My heart was full of joy when our president @PinnickAmaju was addressing us about his plans for the National team now and for the future.
Every weekend, I sit at home and watch () or doing it big for other countries and not ours .We have the power to not allow such.
“I'm happy because we have the power not to repeat losing our players to other Nation. All the boys who were in camp always want to learn.”
