The Frenchman battled his way into round two of Wimbledon with a 6-1 3-6 3-6 6-2 6-4 victory over Jurgen Melzer that had to be completed on Tuesday due to bad light.

At 29, Tsonga's opportunities to win a major title are drying up, and he confessed that it has been difficult to watch the likes of Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic dominate the sport in recent years.

However, Tsonga insists the lure of winning the biggest prizes in the game is enough to keep him motivated.

"They (the top four) play good, they are just too good," he said.

"All four keep the majors in their hands and it's tough to deal with it.

"We practice at the same time, we do the same job but we don't have the same rewards as them.

"Of course it's frustrating, but we continue to fight and we dream about (winning). (The) most important thing is to dream about it, to have the chance once to get there."
