Alpine management has exercised the clause in Argentine driver Franco Colapinto's contract, ensuring he will race for the team next year. This information comes from the Italian magazine Autoracer, with an official announcement of Colapinto's new deal expected at Monza next week.
According to the publication's sources, the deadline for activating this clause expired on Monday. Until the very last moment, other candidates for the team's second seat were reportedly under consideration. Ultimately, however, Flavio Briatore and his team decided that Colapinto would remain Pierre Gasly's teammate.
During the Dutch Grand Prix weekend at Zandvoort, Franco's management team held several meetings with Briatore. It is believed that the final details of his new contract were ironed out during these discussions.
