Pres. Jonathan Launches Improved National I.D Card

President Goodluck Jonathan launched the new national e-ID card yesterday, August 28, 2014 in Abuja.

The new card is powered by MasterCard and also doubles as an ATM card as it can be used for depositing money, withdrawing and making payments.

The Director-General of the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), Mr. Chris Onyemenam described it as a multi-purpose card which is also used for identification, electronic signatures and biometric on-card verification among other things.
