Museveni builds lead with 37 percent of vote counted: electoral commission

The commission said Museveni had 62 percent of the vote after votes were counted at 37 percent of polling stations. His closest challenger, Kizza Besigye, had 33.5 percent of the vote.

Incumbent President Yoweri Museveni extended his lead in Uganda's presidential election, the electoral commission said on national television on Friday.

The commission said Museveni had 62 percent of the vote after votes were counted at 37 percent of polling stations. His closest challenger, Kizza Besigye, had 33.5 percent of the vote.
