The Sole Administrator of the Rivers State Waste Management Agency (RIWAMA), Bro Felix Obuah has charged the State Environmental Health Officers to ensure Governor Wike’s new vision of a dirt-free state is taken to the nooks and crannies of the state.

The RIWAMA sole administrator made the charge while hosting Environmental Health Officers who paid him courtesy visit in his office.

Bro Obuah said the task of keeping Rivers State clean and habitable is the task of everybody resident in the state irrespective of profession, tribe or ethnicity.

A statement signed by Jerry Needam, Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the Sole Administrator, Obuah expressed regrets that the door to door inspection of homes, offices and residences by the environmental health officers is on the decline.

According to the Sole Administrator, the state governor, Nyesom Wike places high premium on restoring the Garden-City status of Port Harcourt and its environs and will appreciate all concerned agencies and departments of government to ensure that this noble objective is realized.

He also charged them to strengthen their legal department with a view to prosecuting those who have formed the habit of flouting the sanitation laws of the state and those who dump refuse indiscriminately on the streets to serve as a deterrent to others.

Speaking earlier, the head, Environmental Health of the State Waste Management Agency, Mrs. Gloria Obe commended the Sole Administrator, Bro Felix Obuah on providing a conducive working environment for the workers of the agency.
