Military denies link in the killings
The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressive Congress (APC) have accused each other of being responsible for the massacre.
While the APC claimed PDP was killing members of its party, the PDP said the APC members in the state invited military men to wreak havoc in the communities under the guise of searching for a militant leader.
A spokesman of the Nigerian Military, Col. Sani Usman Kukasheka told Pulse that reports linking their men on the killing are untrue.
Rivers state has experienced several crises leading to the killing of many people before and after the conduction of the general election in 2015.
The oil-rich region, infamous for militancy and kidnapping is now experiencing political clashes between political party members of the PDP and APC.
“We are worried that innocent people were killed and APC is blaming it on us” Rivers PDP Chairman, Bro Felix Obuah said.
Obuah who attributed the killings in Ogoni communities including Bori, Yeghe and Zaakpon to Army personnel searching for a militant leader, said it was a ploy to make the state ungovernable.
