NCP pays N373.2bn to PHCN workers

The National Council on Privatisation (NCP) has paid N373.2 billion in entitlements to workers of the defunct Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN).

Details of the payments made were disclosed on Wednesday, April 22, by the NCP.

The body also stated that 98% of the PHCN’s former workforce had received their severance, pension and gratuity packages.

The Director-General of the Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE), Benjamin Dikki also told members of the NCP that only 1,169 of the 47,913 workers of the defunct PHCN were yet to be paid.

PHCN was dissolved on September 30, 2013 following the privatization of the electricity sector by the Goodluck Jonathan government.
