A security guard, Mohammed Ismaila, appeared before an Ikeja Magistrates' Court on Tuesday for allegedly defiling a nine-year-old minor.

Ismaila, 27, who lives at 23, Araromi Street, Itire Surulere, Lagos, was arraigned on a one-count charge of defilement.

Prosecutor Jimah Iseghede told the court that the offence was committed at Dammyville School, Surulere, on Aug. 8.

Iseghede said the accused called the minor and sent her to buy a sachet of water for him.

"On her arrival, the accused told her to drop the sachet water inside his room and he shut the door.

The prosecutor said that offence contravened Section 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.

The accused pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Chief Magistrate, Mr Tajudeen Elias, granted bail to the accused in the sum of one million naira with two sureties in like sum.

Elias ordered the accused to deposit N200, 000 into the court’s registrar’s account as part of the bail condition.

He adjourned the case till Aug. 28, for mention.
