'Mysterious' fire razes two hostels in Government Secondary School

Two students' hostel  in Government Secondary School Gwarzo, Kano, has been burned down on January 5.

According to Thisday reports, the cause of the fire, which destroyed countless valuables in the buildings, was unknown.

According to an eyewitness, the fire broke out when the students were assembled in the morning.

He said: “We were in the process of sharing their meal for breakfast when saw a thick smoke coming out from the hostels.”

As soon as word about the fire spread,  the school security and students rushed to put it out , but were unsuccessful.

However,  personnel of  the state fire service deployed to Gwarzo contributed to putting out the fire despite their lack of equipment.

No casualty was recorded during the incident but the students whose hostels were burnt had been transfered.
