Gunmen on a motorcycle opened fire on tourists as they boarded a bus in Cairo on Thursday but there were no casualties, security sources said.

The tourists included two Israelis, the sources said.

Tourism is a pillar of the Egyptian economy, which has been struggling to recover from political turmoil triggered by the 2011 uprising that toppled autocrat Hosni Mubarak.

President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi has declared an all-out war on Islamist militants, who hope to destabilize Egypt through suicide bombings and shooting attacks.

Islamic State's Egypt affiliate has said it planted a bomb on a Russian passenger plane that crashed in the Sinai on Oct. 31, killing all 224 people on board.
