34 shops, 70 houses razed, LASEMA confirms

The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) Head of Operations, Femi Giwa, has said that about 34 shops and 70 houses were affected by the tanker fire that occurred at Idimu area of Lagos at around midnight on Friday, June 5.

Giwa who spoke on Saturday, June 6, at the scene of the accident said 10 out of the houses were completely destroyed by the explosion, which he said was aided by a Suya seller fire.

He confirmed Pulse along Idimu Road.

“The tanker at the back, that is the second one, fell and crashed into a building, but the impact was reduced by the culvert. The content (of the tanker) then spilled and was ignited by the flames of a suya seller nearby,” Giwa said.
