PHOTOS: Weeping Women Demand Rescue of Abducted Girls

It was a moving sight today as aggrieved women and mothers of the over 200 girls abducted by terrorists on April 14 from Government Girls Secondary School, Chibok, Borno State staged a protest in Abuja, Nigeria's capital city.

Dressed in black attires, the protesters converged at Eagle Square, with many of them weeping hysterically.

They marched to National Assembly where they submitted a letter of protest, demanding the immediate release of the teenage girls who have now remained in captivity for 16 days.

Receiving the women, Senators Barnabas Gemade and Helen Esuene appealed for calm and told the women that the Senate was already considering a motion in connection with the girls and.

They also said the government was doing all that is possible to rescue the girls.

Yesterday, the media was awash with news that the abducted girls have already been married off to members of the dreaded Boko Haram sect for N200 each.
