Considering the NBA currently features the likes of Nikola Jokić, Victor Wembanyama, and Luka Dončić, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander's claim that he is the best player in the league is bold indeed.

The Canadian holds two consecutive regular-season MVP awards, a Finals MVP, and a championship ring. While his honesty is appreciated, a touch of humility never hurts.

Gilgeous-Alexander also explained why he believes he stands above the rest:

"I think I'm the best player in the NBA. I think what I bring night in and night out is what the best player in the NBA produces. I think the efficiency with which I do it is at the level of the NBA's best player. I think anyone who picks up a basketball, soccer ball, football, or tennis ball does so to beat their opponent, to win the game, whatever it may be. And over the past few years, I've done a lot of winning." – Shai Gilgeous-Alexander

The four-time All-Star appeared in 68 games last season, averaging 31.1 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 6.6 assists, while shooting 55.3% from the field, 38.6% from beyond the arc, and 87.9% from the charity stripe.

That earned him his second MVP award ahead of Victor Wembanyama and Nikola Jokić.
