Honda: Our Goal is for Alonso to Become World Champion Again

Shintaro Orihara, Chief Engineer and Head of Honda Racing in Formula 1, has affirmed that Aston Martin star Fernando Alonso remains confident in Honda's ability to develop a competitive power unit for Aston Martin, despite a challenging start to the season. Orihara also declared Honda's ambition to see Fernando crowned world champion once again.

“We work with two drivers, and it's a significant advantage for us that they provide different feedback,” Orihara explained. “Fernando possesses immense experience, and the information we receive from him is always crucial. He has 20 seasons in Formula 1 under his belt, so when he tells us, for example, 'We need to manage energy this way before entering the corner,' we absolutely must heed his advice.”
