Samson Siasia and this U-23 team have faced another challenge in his preparation for their CAF U-23 Africa Cup as some players have threatened to boycott camp.
Most of the protesting players were part of the home based Super Eagles squad who just qualified for the African Nations Championship.
The players are said to be uncomfortable with the state of the U-23 camp and are threatening to boycott if conditions do not improve.
According to Sporting Life the players were unhappy with the way they were treated at the All Africa Games where they finished third.
“These players recounted their humiliation in Congo during the All Africa Games how they were paid $100 as daily allowance and never got anything for the victories,” a source told SportingLife.
The players are angry with the fact that they were paid a huge $2,000 each for qualifying for CHAN but are being owed bonuses for qualifying for the All Africa Games, reports.
“Although we are hearing that their bonuses for the Congo matches are being processed but until we see it, we won’t believe,” the Sporting Life source said.
This is not the only problem before Siasia as he only has 10 players in the Abuja camp out of the 35 invited.
Some clubs have also refused to release players invited for the U-23 camp.
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) have however threatened to take actions against those clubs.
