It seems not all is well within the Real Madrid camp. Following the dismissal of Sergio Scariolo and the appointment of Pedro Martinez, Mario Hezonja reportedly wants to leave the royal club, according to Marca.
The Croatian basketball player is said to be keen on returning to the NBA, but his current contract with Real Madrid poses a challenge. Hezonja's contract includes an exit clause of 850,000 euros, but this is exclusively for a move to the NBA. However, concrete offers have yet to materialize.
Naturally, if his NBA return doesn't pan out, Hezonja will have to settle for the EuroLeague. In that scenario, any interested club would need to pay a transfer fee to Real Madrid, or wait for Hezonja to somehow negotiate a contract termination with the club.
In recent weeks, Dubai and Anadolu Efes have been mentioned as potential suitors for his signature, but Marca suggests that Željko Obradović and Panathinaikos could also enter the race.
It's worth remembering that Hezonja previously played for Panathinaikos in 2021, before moving to UNICS and then Real Madrid.
