Ribadu was at the forefront of the 2011 elections as a presidential candidate for the now defunct Action Congress of Nigeria which has essentially become the APC.

The former EFCC chairman is expected to soon declare his intention to run for the gubernatorial office in the upcoming election which is expected to hold October 11.
