Headaches for Paulo Fonseca: Three Lyon Midfielders Nursing Injuries

Lyon's upcoming home clash against Angers this Sunday is shaping up to be a major tactical headache for head coach Paulo Fonseca. Following a 2-0 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain, Les Gones need to find quick fixes amid a congested fixture schedule before the year ends, but their task is severely hampered by a mounting injury crisis.

"I'll have to find solutions in attack, but also in midfield. My main priority is to get the players back to optimal physical condition," the Portuguese tactician admitted after the match against the Parisian side.

With Loïs Openda and Pavel Šulc already ruled out for the long term, Lyon's treatment room looks set to become even more crowded.

The situation in the middle of the park is especially alarming. Tyler Morton has been playing through the pain barrier with early symptoms of a groin issue, Corentin Tolisso is nursing an adductor injury, and Mads Bidstrup suffered a knock to his knee that completely ruled him out of the PSG clash.
