The 33-year-old Kane netted 36 goals in 31 German Bundesliga matches and scored six times at the 2026 World Cup. With 14 strikes, he became England's all-time leading scorer at the World Cup. Upon receiving the Golden Boot, he expressed his hope of winning the biggest individual award possible after what he described as the best season of his career.

"It's obviously out of my hands, I can't influence it. But I know there will be a lot of discussion about it until October. Last season, I did everything I could. It was undoubtedly my best season. I achieved a lot with the teams I played for," Kane stated, according to AFP.

Kane reached the Champions League semi-finals with Bayern, where they narrowly lost to eventual winners Paris Saint-Germain. As captain, he led England to the World Cup semi-finals, where they fell 2-1 to Argentina.
