Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola didn't hide his delight after the 2-1 derby victory over Arsenal. This win propelled the "Citizens" back into the title race, narrowing the gap to the "Gunners" to just three points, with a game in hand. However, Guardiola attempted to temper the euphoria, stating that nothing is decided yet, but acknowledged the win had reignited hope for his team.

"I don't think 'enjoyment' is the right word. 'Hope' is better. This game gave us hope. That's all. I told the lads after the game to enjoy the moment, but not to lose focus. We are there, but what's the reality? Who is at the top of the league? It's not us. In terms of goal difference (if both teams finish with equal points), who is better? They are. But, of course, we have hope to keep fighting and stay in the game," Guardiola stated.

He disagreed with some pundits who suggested Arsenal had lost their momentum.

"People say they don't have momentum. When you see how they play and fight in duels, for long balls, for second balls, and from set pieces, they are an exceptional team. Otherwise, you can't be at the top of the league all season," the Spaniard opined.

Erling Haaland returned to the scoresheet in the league for the first time in two months and was embroiled in a fierce battle with Arsenal defenders William Saliba and Gabriel, even having his shirt torn during one challenge.

"I wouldn't want to be Erling Haaland and fight with William Saliba and Gabriel," Guardiola said with a smile. "Honestly, I'd rather read a book."

He concluded the evening by paying tribute to captain Bernardo Silva, who is set to depart at the end of the season after nine years at City.

"If I talk too much, one day I will cry. So I just say thank you from the bottom of my heart. When we write 'legend,' it should be in capital letters. He is a special, special player," the Catalan finished.
