Jack Grealish returned to Manchester City and trained with the squad last week, hoping for another chance to play for the club. However, the 30-year-old midfielder was not included in the squad for the Citizens' upcoming 11-day tour of Hong Kong and Seoul.
Grealish is still recovering from an injury sustained in January while on loan at Everton, but he has already rejoined training sessions. It remains unclear whether his exclusion is due to his recovery or if manager Enzo Maresca simply doesn't plan to utilize him. He has one year remaining on his contract with City. The former Aston Villa captain will turn 31 in September.
Kalvin Phillips also returned to Manchester City after an unsuccessful loan spell at Sheffield United in the Championship. His prospects of playing for the team are even slimmer than Grealish's, having accumulated just seven minutes of playing time for the Citizens over the past two seasons.
The squad departed for Asia without Erling Haaland, new signing Elliott Anderson, Rayan Cherki, and Nico O'Reilly, all of whom had extended participation in the World Cup in North America. However, Antoine Semenyo, Joško Gvardiol, Phil Foden, and Gianluigi Donnarumma are all part of the traveling party. City is set to face Italian champions Inter on Saturday, marking an unofficial debut for Maresca.
