The move was disclosed via a statement made by the Nigeria Medical Association which gave the reason for the suspension as “the incursion of Ebola into Nigeria”.

The disease claimed its first Nigerian life this week when a nurse who helped in treating the infected Liberian, Patrick Sawyer, lost her life on Tuesday.

Sawyer is credited with importing the virus into Nigeria after he came into the country for a conference despite being infected.

5 other people are believed to have contracted the disease after coming in contact with Mr. Sawyer.
