Gonçalo Feio is back in management. The 36-year-old Portuguese coach has reached an agreement with Greek top-flight side Asteras Tripolis on a two-and-a-half-year contract, set to be signed this Tuesday. After leaving Tondela at the end of last season, he is now set to embark on a new venture abroad.

This move marks a return to Greece for Feio, who previously worked there in 2019 as an assistant coach at Xanthi. Since then, he built much of his managerial reputation in Poland, notably lifting the Polish Cup in 2025 and reaching the quarter-finals of the UEFA Conference League with Legia Warsaw. Last season, he made his top-flight managerial debut in Portugal with Tondela, though he was unable to steer the club clear of relegation.

Feio chose Asteras after holding talks with the club's sporting director and owner, who convinced him with an ambitious medium-to-long-term project. Taking charge immediately, he will oversee his first training session on Wednesday. Feio becomes the third Portuguese coach to manage the club, following in the footsteps of Carlos Carvalhal and Horácio Gonçalves.

The task ahead will be demanding: Asteras currently sit 12th in the league with just six points from nine fixtures and are looking to bounce back from a poor start to the campaign. The primary goal is to guide the team away from the danger zone.
