The American, 23, produced an incredible round on Sunday to finish at 16 under at the TPC Summerlin in Las Vegas.

Kaufman, the world number 226, finished with eight birdies and an eagle to surge to victory.

He finished a shot clear of a group of six players, including fellow fast-finisher Patton Kizzire (63).

Kaufman produced three birdies on the front nine before three more on the 10th, 11th and 13th holes.

His tee shot at the 15th set up his eagle before he birdied the 16th and 18th holes.

Kaufman was left waiting more than two hours to see if anyone could catch him, but no-one could.

Kizzire was joined in a tie for second by Cameron Tringale (66), Jason Bohn (66), Alex Cejka (66), Kevin Na (67) and overnight leader Brett Stegmaier (69).

Na had joined Kaufman in the lead after a birdie putt at the 16th, but he bogeyed the 17th and missed a 15-footer for birdie at the last.

Kizzire enjoyed a bogey-free day that included eight birdies, while Tringale was left to rue three bogeys on the back nine.

Cejka finished with five birdies on his final six holes, while Stegmaier had four birdies and two bogeys.
