Rohr has been heavily criticised for his continual snubbing of players in the Nigeria Professional Football Federation (NFF) especially MFM FC striker Stephen Odey who has netted 13 goals in 16 games so far this season.

Rohr was, however, bullish in his response, insisting that Nigeria’s best players are the ones playing in Europe.

“Our best players are playing in Europe,” the German coach said.

“Senegal, who we played against in London had no local player. The big teams don’t have local players.

“Next week, I will be in Nigeria to see some games. I have watched some league games already, but the players there are not better than what we already have.

“The quality of the clubs could be seen from the African competitions where Wikki Tourists and FC Ifeanyi Ubah crashed out of the CAF Confederation Cup, while Rangers and Rivers United exited the Champions league.”

The Eagles coach will, however, offer the home-based players a chance ahead of the 2018 African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifiers.

The 63-year-old revealed that he will be attending some NPFL matches when he returns to the country.

“The local players will feature in the CHAN, We will see them there,” Rohr added.

For the CHAN qualifiers, Rohr has placed his assistant, Super Eagles chief coach, Salisu Yusuf in charge of Super Eagles Team B.
