The 27-year-old attacker joined Denizlispor for the 2018/19 season from Kazakhstan first division side FC Irtysh Pavlodar.
The Nigerian forward was linked to several clubs especially Tunisia top-flight side Etoile Sportive du Sahel reportedly offered him a three-year contract.
He, however, has opted to continue his professional career in Europe by penning a one year deal with Denizlispor which has an option for extension.
Denizlispor confirmed the acquisition of Salami through a message on their official Twitter handle.
The message read, “Our club has provided a 1-year deal with Gbolahan Salami, a Nigerian striker player who wore the Irtysh Pavlodar jersey last season.”
Salami previously played for Nigerian Professional Football League sides, Shooting Stars, Sunshine Stars and Warri Wolves before he took a step to Europe with Finnish side KUPS.
He posted a picture along with a message on his official Instagram to celebrate the move to a new club.
He said, “Thank You My God!!! A big thanks to my family and friends,my team mates& also my fans everywhere...i really appreciate you guys for your prayers and support,you all have been wonderful ♂️ ...Now It's time to move onto the next Level... ♂️✌✌✌”
Since the appointment of Super Eagles boss in 2016 Salami has not yet featured for the national team.
