Manchester City to meet specialist in Spain for metatarsal injury
Jesus had a flying start to his Manchester City career, scoring three goals in five games before suffering a metatarsal injury in City’s 2-0 win at Bournemouth on Monday, February 13.
According to Daily Mail, the 19-year-old who will miss three months of action will travel to Spain to see Cugat on the recommendation of Pep Guardiola.
Cugat and Guardiola worked together at Barcelona and Bayern Munich.
Since Guardiola took over at City, Cugat has already overseen treatment for Kevin De Bruyne, Vincent Kompany and Ilkay Gundogan this season.
City were hoping that Jesus injury will not be serious but the Brazil international is at risk of missing the rest of the season.
Medical experts say that on average, a broken metatarsal needs about eight weeks for recovery.
Doctors recommend four to eight weeks rest. The treatment depends on the extent of the damage.
If the foot is bad enough to warrant being put in plaster, he would have to keep the cast for four to six weeks.
Jesus would then make a gradual return with exercises to increase the strain he can put on the foot. The return could be another four weeks or more.
