The reigning two-time Champions League winners have decided to limit their academy players' mobile phone usage to one hour per day. This new rule applies to approximately 150 PSG academy members aged 11 to 15. The initiative has been aptly named: "Digital Detox!"
"From Sunday evening until Friday, children can only use their mobile phones for one hour daily, specifically from 7:30 PM to 8:30 PM. This restriction also applies during weekends when the team travels for away matches. The goal is to promote better sleep, recovery, and focus on games, as well as encourage spending time together. Instead of scrolling through social media, PSG will offer children alternative activities such as piano lessons, choir singing, and many others," reported iDnes.cz.
According to Medhi Rahoui, director of the PSG school academy, this measure will be significantly beneficial. His experience suggests that "mobile phones are detrimental to young people and distract athletes from their comprehensive development and personal growth."
