In response, a PSG ultras group announced they are taking legal action against the decision. "We have asked our legal representative to initiate urgent proceedings with the Council of State to challenge the ministry's impending ban," declared the Collectif Ultras Paris group, according to AP.
In France, away fans are regularly prohibited from attending high-risk matches, making it unlikely that the PSG supporters' legal challenge will succeed. The French Interior Ministry justified the travel ban by citing the long-standing hostile relationship between Marseille and PSG fans.
The ministry recalled incidents in Paris in February 2018, when eight security personnel were injured during a clash between the two sets of supporters.
