Following the expiration of the Spaniard's contract with Argentine club Boca Juniors, he opted to complete a full circle in his career. Real Zaragoza was his first professional club, where he rose through the youth ranks and earned a transfer to Athletic Bilbao.

Herrera, who honorably represented Manchester United between 2014 and 2019, has signed a one-year deal with Zaragoza, who will compete in the third tier of Spanish football next season.

The former Paris Saint-Germain player returns to his boyhood club 15 years after his departure. He will aim to help the team secure promotion in what is expected to be the 36-year-old Spaniard's final campaign as a professional footballer.
