Italian Tennis star beats Roberta Vinci to win US Open final

Italian Tennis star, Flavia Penneta has emerged winner of the 2015 US Open.

Flavia Pennetta beat Roberta Vinci 7-6, 6-2 to win the US Open women's singles tournament on Saturday.

According to a report by AP, the Italaian returned a backhand shot to Roberta Vinci of Italy during their Women's Singles Final match on Day Thirteen of the 2015 US Open at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center on September 12, 2015 in New York.

Pennetta beat Vinci to become the winner of the 2015 US Open final, which had defending champion, Serena Williams losing out to Roberta Vinci.

The victory for Pennetta comes just one day after the unseeded Vinci stunned the tennis world by beating Serena Williams in the semifinal. Williams had been just two wins away from completing the first calendar-year Grand Slam since 1988.
