The Minnesota Timberwolves once again demonstrated why they are considered a dark horse in the Western Conference, securing their third win of the season with a commanding 117-94 home victory over the Toronto Raptors.
The hosts built a significant 32-21 lead in the opening quarter. Although Darko Rajakovic's team managed to fight their way back into the game by halftime, the Timberwolves dominated the third frame 35-15 to pull away and lock down the win.
Anthony Edwards led the winning effort with 26 points, while LaMelo Ball and Terrence Shannon Jr. contributed 15 each, Jaden McDaniels had 14, and Jonathan Kuminga added 13.
On the other side, Ja'Kobe Walter paced the Raptors with 22 points, RJ Barrett chipped in 20, and Immanuel Quickley scored 19. However, Scottie Barnes had a night to forget, going scoreless on 0-of-12 shooting from the field. In addition, Toronto was without Kawhi Leonard.
Knicks Still Searching for First Win
The New York Knicks have endured a miserable start to the new campaign, remaining winless through their first three games. The Orlando Magic came away with a 111-102 victory in the USA's largest city.
The game started brilliantly for the hosts, who jumped out to a 12-0 lead within the first five minutes, but it was not enough.
Despite playing without Paolo Banchero, the visitors steadily chipped away at the deficit before taking full control with a 40-27 fourth-quarter surge to seal the win.
Franz Wagner fell just shy of a triple-double with 23 points, 13 rebounds, and nine assists, while Desmond Bane poured in 22. For the Knicks, Jalen Brunson led the charge with 28 points, OG Anunoby added 22, and Karl-Anthony Towns tallied a 22-point, 14-rebound double-double.
