Femi Kuti has revealed that three of his nine children are adopted.
He made this known during a recent interview. The music icon spoke about his relationship with his children and how he is able to balance the relationship between being a father and work as a full-time artist.
He also spoke about his influence on his kids, making reference to his first son, Made, who he said plays a number of musical instruments and he is immensely proud of his dexterity.
Femi Kuti will be performing live at the Felabration Music Festival which is slated for Monday, October 9, to Sunday, October 15, 2017, marking Fela Anikulapo Kuti's 79th birthday. This year's edition of Felabration is themed "The Prophecy."
In January 2017, Femi Kuti paid a visit to the home for the Internally Displaced Persons - IDP camp- in Maiduguri.
The star shared a video of himself teaching the children a little musical do-re-mi lesson on the trumpet.
In 2014, Femi Kuti cleared the air about a news story which claimed that the musician discovered two of his kids weren't his. The statement was released by Chocolate City which manages Femi Kuti in Nigeria.
"Reports labelling this story as recent are false, this old interview was simply rehearsed by some blogs and newspapers in a bid to steer up controversy and have something to sell, some blogs even went as far as publishing pictures of his legitimate children in a bid to pass them off as the affected children" read the statement.
The press release went on to further state that Femi Kuti is a responsible father who is private about his family life.
