He also advised motorists to simply obey both regular and special marshals on duty, rather than resorting to self help.

Mr Ajayi told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the warning was necessary because FRSC personnel are empowered by law arrest of any errant driver.

"Any motorist who tries to take the law into his or her own hands will be made to face the full wrath of the law. Every driver has a duty to stop when an officer demands that he or she does so.

It is wrong to exhibit stubbornness or fight with the officers. They have the right to use minimum force to secure the arrest of any errant driver.

There are channels of complaint, we are here to protect you and if you think you are treated unjustly by any officer, you are advised to report to the command. And I will personally handle the case on its merit."
