FIFA Rejects Meeting With The Nigerian Delegation To Brazil
The newly appointed NFF has been denied by the World Football Governing, FIFA after it replaced the sacked Aminu Maigari led NFF board.
FIFA on Wednesday, July 9, suspended Nigeria from all football related matters said that it will not receive any delegation or member representing the NFF other than Aminu Maigari who they see as the duly appointed president of the football house.
The suspension came as a result of a high court ruling, banning Maigari and his wards from the Sunday Dankaro Football House in Abuja, following a suit by Baribote’s wife.
Before the suspension on Wednesday, FIFA had in a letter signed by its Secretary General Jerome Valcke stated that it will not communicate or discuss with anyone outside the elected NFF board: ”FIFA will now refrain from communicating with any other parties than the duly elected NFF officials which are the NFF President Aminu Maigari and the NFF General Secretary Musa Amadu.”
Furthermore, the Nigerian football house contravened FIFA statutes which clearly states that only the elected President of the Football federation can call for a congress, when the acting secretary general Lawrence Katken called a national football congress last Saturday with some state FA chairmen and retained members of the Aminu Maigari led board.
A Nigerian delegation left for Brazil on Monday to possibly meet FIFA officials to reach an ‘amicable’ resolution even while the letter states the prerequisite.
