Farke Delivers Positive Update on Ilia Gruev

Ilia Gruev is nearing his return to action for Leeds, having spent the last four months recovering from a knee injury sustained during training in late April. The Bulgarian international has been back training with the squad for two weeks and, according to his manager, appears to be in excellent physical condition. Farke intends for Gruev to gain minutes with the U21 squad before rejoining the first team, but admitted he wouldn't hesitate to call upon last year's Bulgarian Footballer of the Year if needed immediately. On Sunday, the Yorkshire side hosts Brentford, aiming to extend their strong start to the new season after securing two victories already.

"After his long-term injury, Ilia has been training with the team for two weeks now, so he's getting closer. There's also good news regarding Gudmundsson and Gnonto, who will join team training this afternoon for the first time since their injuries. We'll then have to wait and see how their bodies react. There are only about two days until the match, but the news is positive. Currently, all players are available.

Ilia missed about four months, so we need to make a decision. Physically, he's getting closer; he looks good in training. Normally, you'd give a player more minutes with the U21 squad, but he's experienced, and if I need him, I won't have any issues. However, there's no need to rush because everyone is available."
