The boxing match was hugely anticipated with Nigerian literature icon Wole Soyinka appointed as the match referee.
The event held at the Landmark event centre in Victoria Island on Thursday, May 27 but Jagaban-as Tinubu is fondly called- did not show up.
His absence took away the spark from the well-attended event which organisers tried to save with two boxing games by amateur boxers.
Femi Kuti’s performance was the highlight of the event with renditions of his popular songs. His performance of the song ‘Africa for Africa’ where he mentioned Tinubu’s name as one of the politicians responsible for the bad leadership in the country, was a very funny and memorable one.
With Tinubu absent, it was Lagos State Governor Akinwunmi Ambode who gave the final speech and handed a gift on behalf of his political godfather to Holyfield.
