According to the Greek portal "Sport24", Željko Obradović immediately contacted Bogdan Bogdanović upon taking over the Athenian giants. The famous duo, who conquered Europe with Fenerbahçe nine years ago, could reunite, as the Los Angeles Clippers do not plan to activate the team option in the Serbian guard's contract, making him a free agent.
However, a return to Europe is currently a secondary consideration. Bogdanović reportedly informed Obradović that he wishes to wait until at least mid-July to explore the NBA market. His primary motivation for staying in America is to enter his tenth, milestone season, which guarantees players a full pension and lifelong health insurance for their families.
Besides Panathinaikos, who are patiently awaiting developments, Greek insiders suggest that remaining "across the pond" is not unrealistic. In recent days, Denver has been quietly mentioned as a potential destination, where Bogdanović could team up with Nikola Jokić. Although the captain of the "Eagles" had a modest season with the Clippers, playing only 23 games (averaging 7.4 points per game), his experience and shooting prowess could still be attractive to NBA teams.
The free agency market is just beginning, and the situation is clear: if a satisfactory offer from America doesn't materialize by July 15th, a return to Željko Obradović's command in Athens will be the most likely scenario.
