EuroLeague Strikes Back at NBA Europe
With the NBA posing a significant threat to dominate basketball on the Old Continent, EuroLeague has decided to counter-attack! To enhance and expand its competition, the league's leadership is preparing a major announcement for the start of next season: the EuroLeague Supercup! "Basket News" exclusively reported that EuroLeague is actively working on launching an entirely new, elite preseason tournament.
According to the latest information, the inaugural edition could take place as early as September 19th and 20th, just before the official start of the 2026/27 EuroLeague season. The tournament is planned as an intense, fast-paced two-day event featuring four top European teams. Wealthy Abu Dhabi has emerged as the absolute favorite to host this historic spectacle. The capital of the United Arab Emirates would thus set the perfect stage for 2027, when it is already officially slated to host the EuroLeague Final Four.
