Espanyol sack manager immediately following humiliating Copa del Rey exit

Espanyol have endured a difficult start to their league campaign, suffering six defeats in ten La Liga matches to sit 18th in the table.

"Both parties part ways after more than three seasons and 107 official matches with Manolo Gonzalez at the helm of the first team. During this time, he made his mark both personally and professionally, not only on the pitch but also in the club's day-to-day operations," AP quoted the club's statement.

Gonzalez took charge of Espanyol in March 2024 and guided the club back to the Spanish top flight.
