The referee for Portugal's clash against Spain in the 2026 World Cup Round of 16, scheduled for this Monday in Dallas, USA, has been announced. England's Anthony Taylor has been selected by FIFA to officiate the Iberian derby.
The 47-year-old Premier League referee will be joined by assistant referees Gary Beswick and Adam Nunn. Germany's Felix Zwayer will serve as the fourth official, with compatriot Robert Kempter as the reserve official.
To date, Anthony Taylor has officiated two matches in this World Cup: Colombia's 3-1 victory over Uzbekistan in the opening round, notably in the same Group K as the Portuguese National Team, and Senegal's dominant 5-0 win against Iraq in the final group stage match, where he sent off an Iraqi player as early as the 13th minute.
